The Preschool Committee in the City of Västerås has decided to change the rules of application and placement in preschool and family day-care home. The aim of the change is to achieve quicker management and offer guardians a place for a child at the required date. The change in regulations starts 1 January 2018.
You may submit five applications. If there are places available in your desired preschools, you will be offered one of your options. Family day-care home can only be offered if you have requested it.
In the event that a preschool cannot take more children and you cannot accept an offer of one of your five requested places, the search area will be widened. You may therefore be offered a place at another preschool in the municipality that is further away from where you live.
If you have applied for a municipal preschool or family day-care home at least four months before needed start date, you will be offered a place for the child on the date of need. When you specify your starting date it is important that you count on approximately 14 days for introduction.
When you receive an offer, you must either accept it or decline it. The offer will state the latest date by which you must respond. Once you have replied, your application is closed; you may make a new application if you wish.
If demand for a preschool is greater than the number of places available, the places will be offered in the following order:
If your child has a place and you would like to change to another preschool or family day-care home, you must make a new application. You will get an offer when there are places available.
To apply for or cancel a place, please use the e-service for preschool and after-school activity. This is applicable to both municipal and independent preschools and family day-care homes. Log in to the e-service using your Mobile BankID or e-ID, which you can obtain from your bank. The forms currently on the City of Västerås website will be removed shortly.
